Kade’s POV
Anna looked betrayed, and it felt like I had taken a hit to the gut. She and I had become close over the past few weeks, and I had come to care for her. She was a good friend by now, and I knew that she missed her best friend, and I was doing everything I could to bring her home, but there was no chance for them to meet until I succeeded.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” She raised her voice and stood up. She grabbed a pillow and tossed it at my head. I sighed and put it aside as I stayed seated, and just prepared for whatever she had coming. “She’s my best friend! Why the fuck can’t I meet her? Why didn’t you bring me with you?”
I furrowed my brows and looked around the room.
“I don’t think you’d want to be present for that,” I said, and turned my head.
