After some hours, The door to his cell finally creaked open. Michael’s eyes locked onto the figure that entered—a police officer, not his lawyer.
“Your lawyer is on their way,” the officer said, his tone devoid of any sympathy.
Michael’s fists clenched at his sides.
“Took you long enough. What’s the hold-up?”
The officer’s gaze remained cold and unyielding. “We’re following protocol. Sit tight and wait.”
Michael’s frustration bubbled to the surface again, but he knew he had to keep his composure. He took a deep breath and sat down on the narrow bunk, his mind racing with thoughts of his impending legal battle.
