Lucian POV

*Night of Winter Solstice Ball*

Standing in front of my mirror I fiddle with my tie. Looking at my reflection I groan loudly because it is crooked again. As pitiful as it may sound, I’ve never had to tie my own tie before. Mother had always done it for me, but she is currently giving me the cold shoulder since I told her that my mate is male.

My mind thinks back to earlier this morning when I decided to drop the news on her and I cringe at the memory.

*Flashback*

“Your mate is not male,”
