Ally's POV

The forest whispers secrets as I tread lightly among the fallen leaves, their crisp voices a stark contrast to the turmoil within me. The air is thick with the scent of rain and pine, a balm to my unsettled senses. James's presence behind me feels like a shadow, dark and looming, a constant reminder of the treachery that runs in our blood.

"Ally, wait."

His voice slices through the silence, but I don't stop. My brother may have led us here, but I know it's not for reconciliation. It's Poppy who emerges from the shadows, her form trembling like an autumn leaf caught in a tempest.

"Ally," she breathes, her eyes wide and glistening with unshed tears. Her hair, usually fiery and wild like her namesake, lies limp around her pale face. I pause, my heart clenching at the sight before me, though I can't decide if it's out of residual affection or brewing anger.
