Chapter 41. The Next Morning

Camila’s eyelids fluttered open, a dull ache throbbing at the base of her skull. Sunlight seeped through the gaps in the curtains, casting a warm glow across the unfamiliar room. She winced, trying to piece together fragmented memories- laughter, dancing, and... something more intimate.

“Ugh,” she groaned, clutching her head as she attempted to sit up. That’s when she felt the weight of an arm draped over her waist. Panic flared within her chest, and with a sudden jolt, she turned to find Travis lying beside her, his breathing even and deep.

“Travis?” she whispered, disbelief coloring her tone.

He stirred, his eyes blinking open to meet hers. “Camila? Are you okay?” His voice was groggy with sleep but laced with genuine concern.
