Chapter 198. Men on the Run
Derek POV
Anger swirled through me as I switched off the TV, cutting off the boring-faced, irritating voice of the newscaster. I turned to glare at Philip, but he ignored me and took another drink from the bottle of brandy he’d shoplifted last night.
“Are you happy, man?” I snapped, knowing how much he hated talking about the situation.
He let out a weary sigh.
“I’m sorry, Derek. How many times do I have to apologize before you believe me?”
“No apology can repair the damage you’ve done. My life is on the verge of being ruined. I should’ve left you at that hotel and driven off.”
“You almost left me.” The accusation in his tone didn’t go unnoticed.
“I should have,” I bit out. “I hate myself for changing my mind. I should’ve let those cops get to you.”
