”What's going on?” I stepped into the living room to see Martha seated calmly but looking very angry. Jared was fuming, pacing about.

”She's gone,” Jared blurted, looking more pissed as he uttered those words.

”Who's gone?” I stared in sheer confusion.

”Who else?! How dare she?!” Jared kicked a table.

”I don't care that she's gone. I'm just angry she stole from you,” Martha put in.

”Mom, the money is the least of my problem. I don't care how much she made away with. I... I just don't know why she would leave!” He groaned, then kicked the poor table again.

”Hailey?” I guessed that would be the only person they were talking about.

”Yes,” Martha responded when she noticed Jared was not going to.
