“Are you sure of this, Hailey?” Uncle Pete held my wrist just as I was about to scribble my signature in the empty box on the lower-left side of the papers before me.

I struggled back tears and nodded. “Yes, uncle Pete. I can't take it anymore. The humiliation from his mother, the bullying from his girlfriend. Everything is just too much for me at this point.”
