Chapter 43
Walking out the door, my arm is grabbed, and someone drags me back in. Turning, Marcus stands here looking confused.
“What are you doing here? Where is Jackson?” He looks around, outside at my car.
Standing, I try to force the tears to stay away. “If I knew, I would be with him, wouldn’t I.” Then, turning, I walk back to the car, Marcus behind me, following.
“He wouldn’t just leave and not tell you when you planned this time for you two. Was he there when you got up?” His questions are starting to annoy me, reminding me that he chose to leave and not tell me, knowing I planned this for his birthday. It hurts, and I feel myself breaking.
“Look, does it matter? I have a plan. If it works, then it works. If not, then I guess I know what that means.” I climb into the car, not waiting for his reply and speed off.
