Chapter 78
“Oh fuck, Mary.” He came to her side but didn’t touch her, as if he
was afraid to hurt her.
Tears slid down her cheeks, but she did not speak; it hurt to speak now, the adrenaline fading away now that he was there.
Alex ran a hand over her lips. She winced since Jim had hit her with the gun, and he let out a growl.
“I don’t know where to touch you. That won’t hurt.” He said pitifully.
“Just be here,” she said. “Stay close to me.”
“You can pick me up,” she said softly. “I just want to go home.”
“Home,” he whispered. “We can do that. If we move you right now, though, we might hurt you more. Have Kate heal you just a little bit so we can travel with you.”
It made sense, but she honestly did not want to be in the room they took her to any
longer than she had to. Kate seemed to understand and gripped Mary’s
hand. It was unhurt, thankfully.
“Jim said that this was just a warning,” Mary put in.
