She moved along the rear of a sedan and peered around the other side, checking before she dashed across an empty parking spot. A flash of motion caught her eye, and she yanked her head back. Looking under the car, she saw Jim’s shoes. For a moment, she froze and checked the wind direction. Northwest. She was upwind. She stopped breathing but knew it would not matter if she did not make any noise. He would smell her. He had to. Unless he was too adamant to use his sense of smell.
