The noise of the medical machine beeping sounded in the distance as Selena opened her eyes. Her vision was blurred for a few seconds before becoming clear. 

She was staring at the ceiling and the beeping that had sounded so far away was right in the same room she was. She tried to swallow but her throat was very dry and her stomach hurt a lot when she made any movement. 

Selena instinctively reached for her belly but her breath hitched when she did not feel her baby bump. Memories immediately flooded her mind and she could now remember everything that had happened in the last few hours.
