Chapter 152

No one spoke, everyone minded their business. The elevator made a sharp noise when it came to a stop, and the automated doors opened up slowly. 

Clary was once again the first one to step out, and as soon as she did, a foul and metallic smell hit her nose. She instinctively covered her nose with her hand and looked back at everyone to make sure that she was not the only one that was smelling it. 

“What the hell is that smell?” Levi exclaimed as he covered his nose. It smelled like blood and something else, almost like burnt matches. 

“It smells like rotting flesh,” Ace replied. He did not attempt to cover his nose but the smell did bother him. He just was not going to be dramatic about it. 

“Something’s not right,” Sarah pointed out the obvious. The hall should have been busy, even crawling with busy nurses and doctors. But it was empty, quiet, and very smelly.
