Chapter 24

“Where were you?” Sasha exclaimed as she, Alice, and Violet joined Brooklyn at the diner. “You ditched us, why?”

“Harry,” Brooklyn blurted. “And I didn’t mean to ditch you!”

“You ditched us for the guy we’re meant to be hiding you from?” Violet wondered.

“We’re doing a shit job,” Alice grumbled.

“He turned up outside my house on Friday and wouldn’t leave until I got in his car. And then he decided not to drive to school,” Brooklyn explained.

“Where did you go?” Sasha asked.

“The beach.”

“He took you to the beach?” Violet frowned. “That does not sound like him.”

“And then on the way home, we had an argument, I got out of the car, and he left me in the middle of nowhere,” Brooklyn added.

“Ah, that’s more like him,” Sasha nodded.

“He left you?” Violet gasped.
