Chapter 210

Later on in the day the thunder had stopped, but Brooklyn was still extremely jittery and on edge. She had retreated to the library at lunch. This was one of the few times that she wanted to be alone.

Besides, she was awfully behind on school work.

Brooklyn spread her books out on the desk in front of her and sighed. She wondered if she kept staring then it would suddenly click and all make sense.

She envied people who were naturally academic. She wouldn't call herself dumb, but school work just seemed to refuse to go in.

"Hey, do you mind if I sit?" A girl asked.

Brooklyn looked up and smiled, remembering the girl, Cassie. "Of course not."

Cassie took a seat opposite Brooklyn. "You look confused."

"That obvious?" Brooklyn laughed.

Cassie smiled sheepishly. "What class is it?"

"Math," Brooklyn sighed.

"I can give you a hand if you want," Cassie offer
