“Ouch,” Harry said. “We were in the same class, babe, and I’m a lot faster than you.”
Brooklyn rolled her eyes. “Since you’re giving me no choice in being with you, then I’m not going to make it easy for you.”
Harry stopped walking and pulled Brooklyn to the side. “Fine, leave, but only if you 100% don’t want to be with me. There can be no doubt in your mind. If it’s the truth, then I’ll let you go.”
“If it’s not the truth?” Brooklyn asked slowly, and she felt Harry in her mind. “What will you do?”
“Walk away and you’ll find out,” Harry said lowly, stepping back from Brooklyn. “I’m in your head, babe. You say you don’t want to be with me, but you and I both know it’s not completely true.”
Brooklyn stepped back. “If it were 100% truth, you’d let me go?” she asked quietly.
“I want you more than I’ve ever wanted anything in my whole entire life,” Harry said. “But if I knew you didn’t want it at all, then I wouldn’t force you.”
