“Why? You’ll pay a ridiculous amount of money to queue up for ages and sit on a boringly slow Ferris wheel that has a crap view,” Greyson said and raised his eyebrows. “Sounds riveting.”
Brooklyn ignored Harry and Greyson and looked at Laura with a smile. “I can’t wait.”
“The school puts on a carnival every summer. They do seem very fun,” Laura smiled. “Will you go with Brooke, Harry?”
“No,” Brooklyn said quickly.
Harry turned to Brooklyn and arched an eyebrow. “I think I will.”
“Oh, you really don’t have to—” Brooklyn began, shaking her head.
“Maybe you can show me why they’re so exciting?” Harry wondered, his tone, however, making it sound like a carnival was the last place he wanted to be.
“I don’t think so—” Brooklyn started.
“Great, can’t wait,” Harry smiled, and Brooklyn rolled her eyes.
“Fantastic,” she muttered under her breath.
Dawn raised her eyebrows and looked at Greyson. “Maybe,” she purred, “you can take me.”<
