Adrian, Matteo, and I plunged headfirst into the blizzard. Even for werewolves, the wind ripped at our fur like razor blades, and the temperature was so low my bones felt hollow. We were staggering through drifts that came up to our waists, each step a battle. All because Weston had vanished out here somewhere. I kicked myself for not going with him to the office this morning—Sophie’s ultrasound was supposed to be the priority, and Weston insisted I stay behind. But now I doubted that decision with every gust of frozen wind pounding my face.
I flicked on the mental link. “Jace, can you sense anything?” My teeth chattered through the mind-probe.
“No,” he replied, frustration crackling in his thoughts. “The wind’s drowning out every scent. I can’t smell shit.”
I glanced sideways at Matteo. His nose twitched, trying to draw something through the storm. “Think Matteo can pick up a trail?” I tried.
