It was nearly eleven when my panic hit full throttle—Weston and the guys still weren’t back, and Weston hadn’t called. Claire tried to soothe me. “Sweetheart, they’ll turn up. Think positive.” I heard her racing thoughts telling me she was just as scared, but I forced a smile.
The door crashed open. Dominic, Adrian, Milan—but no Weston.
“Where’s my son?” Roland’s voice cracked.
Adrian’s apology was raw. “We found his car in the gorge under the bridge, about thirty minutes out. It ran off the road.”
“Blood in the car, but no Weston,” Milan added, clutching a blanket. “Matteo tracked his scent down into the gorge—it ended at an embankment.”
Dominic held up his blanket. “Then the trail split. We think he may have been grabbed.”
My head snapped to Matteo. “Did you know this was coming?!”
He shook his head, earnest. “No. My visions don’t warn me of everything.”
I snapped. “What good is premonition if you can’t save him?!”<
