“He’s not going to kill you,” Alex snapped before I could speak. “I am.”
“Alex?!” I grabbed her shoulders. “What are you doing?”
She met my eyes. “This is between me and her, Weston. She tried to kill me once, nearly killed you, then stole you away. Our son might’ve grown up fatherless because of her. I won’t let you do what’s not you.”
I exhaled. “I’m an Alpha. Delivering justice—executions when needed—that’s my duty.”
She squared her shoulders. “I’m an Alpha too—and Luna of this pack. My decision stands.”
Defeated, I nodded. Alex turned to Camilla. The chains binding her lifted, then dropped with a clang. Alex’s voice slipped into that low Luna register: “Shift.”
Camilla snarled. “What?”
“SHIFT, bitch!” The word was like iron.
Bones cracked, and Minerva—the wolf within Camilla—erupted in fur and fang. Alex shifted beside her. I blinked: Calista’s coat was now a pale baby-blue.
