“What do you think the Alpha will do with all those newborns?” Maddox asked over turkey sandwiches in the castle courtyard.

Hugo shrugged. “He’ll probably just give them a place to stay for now. I doubt he’s going to throw them into work immediately. And well, they can’t return back to their human lives, so what choice is left?”

Maddox chewed. “And the new Luna? You think she’s ready to handle dozens of fresh wolves so soon?”

They chatted, but I barely listened. My mind was still preoccupied with Alpha’s story about how Camilla had tried to steal the throne by manipulating his memory.

We headed back toward the main hall for our next duty shift when a heady scent slammed into me—sweeter than anything I’d ever smelled. Finn, my wolf, snarled at my ribs, tugging me forward.
