The rest of the day passed in a blur of lectures and classes, my mind constantly drifting to thoughts of Adrian and our relationship.

I could hardly focus on anything else, counting down the minutes until I could see him again.

When the final bell rang, I bolted from my seat, nearly tripping over my own feet in my haste to get out of there.

Martha shot me a knowing look as she fell into step beside me, linking her arm through mine as we walked out into the bright sunlight.

“Someone’s eager,” she teased, elbowing me in the side playfully. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you so wound up before.”

I blushed, ducking my head to hide my smile. “Shut up,” I mumbled, unlinking our arms to grab my bag from the bench where I’d left it that morning. “I just… have somewhere I need to be.”
