Chapter 39. Back at Home

Adrian’s fist crashed into Jace’s jaw before I could move, the crack of bone on bone sharp in the small room.
Jace stumbled back, hitting the dresser, bottles and keys clattering to the floor. Blood trickled from his lip, but Adrian didn’t stop.
He grabbed him by the collar, yanked him up, and drove another punch into his face, this one splitting his cheek, red blood spraying across the carpet.
“Adrian, stop!” I screamed, scrambling off the bed, naked, grabbing his arm.
My fingers slipped on his skin, slick with sweat and fury. He shook me off like I was nothing, eyes wild, not even seeing me.
Jace tried to swing back, a weak jab that grazed Adrian’s shoulder, but it only made it worse.
Adrian roared, slamming his fist into Jace’s stomach, doubling him over, then an uppercut that snapped his head back, blood pouring from his nose.
