"We can’t just sit here and wait for him to attack," Kai said, his voice tight with frustration as we gathered in the castle’s main sitting room later that evening. "We need to go on the offensive."
"Absolutely not," Kylan countered, his arms crossed as he faced his brother. "The safest thing for Briar and the children is to keep them hidden, protected behind our strongest wards."
"Hidden where?" Kai demanded. "He found us at the safe house. He found us here. There’s nowhere we can run that he won’t eventually track us down."
"So your solution is to walk straight into a trap?" Kylan’s voice rose with disbelief.
"My solution is to end this before he gets another chance to hurt our family."
