“I don’t have much time okay? I’m not sure what time Brad’s coming home.”

“Uh, you too are moving quickly.”

“Well, we are engaged. What do you have?”

“The information on your trusts and properties. Did you ask your father?”

I shook my head. My heart was pounding. None of this felt an ounce real. I was an heiress.

“I haven’t had the time.”

He pulled out a file and placed it flat on the table. It felt like touching a hot rock.

“What is this?”

“Open it.”

I flipped it open. It was the details of an account. I shook my head. That was my name. Gianna Amelia Glass. I had an account with over five million dollars. Tears stung my eyes. Had I known earlier I wouldn’t have had to marry Brad or drop out of community college before I got my degree to help mom out. 

“It’s for real?”

Luke nodded. “Keep looking.”

The next document was a will. My grandfather’s will.

“How did you get this? Are you supposed to have it?”
