“No. That's not what I mean— ”

Wendy didn't finish what Wayne wanted to say because she had already run upstairs. Wayne knew that Wendy would not lie about the things she had actually seen. If it is true that everything is just an illusion, why is there proof laid before her? Wendy asked herself.

Wendy couldn’t explain the resentment she felt. If she only knew that's how Wayne would react, she wouldn't have called Wayne then to point out what she saw.

As soon as Wendy entered, she closed the door and the next knock was Wayne. Wendy did not answer the knock her husband made.

When Wayne knocked, Wendy still wouldn't open the door. He just leaned against the wall next to their door. He banged the back of his head on the wall. He didn't mean to reinforce his reaction earlier.
