I let go of her arm and look at Mom, she is not crying, she seems shocked and before I even understand what is going on I go back into the throne room.

"The meeting is over, everyone go to your rooms and I mean that damn seriously."

Everyone looks at me, but no one contradicts me. Dad looks at me, I lean towards him and whisper just a part of the words I have just been told, I can't finish speaking, then he pushes me away and hurries out of the room to Audrey in the garden and shields her from the looks that are now on both of them.

My brothers look at me, but we wait until everyone is out of the hall before we go to Dad, who disappears into his chambers with Mom. We wait outside until the door opens and Dad brings us in. We look at Mom, she is fighting back tears. James and Cathy stay outside with Abby, things are a little different now.

Dad has thrown his uniform jacket into the corner, I pick it up and put it on the chair. D
