Madeline POV

“Are you all set for tonight?”

When she heard Lady Delilah’s voice, Madeline’s face lit up, and she leapt from the bed she was sitting on.

She’d been waiting for the mistress since she’d been summoned. However, when she arrived, Madeline was told she’d gone out on a quick errand.

Making use of the free time, she’d been so lost in her thoughts, seated on the bed and fidgeting her fingers anxiously as her mind drifted, that she probably hadn’t heard Lady Delilah come in.

“Yes, ma…” Madeline trailed off, curious about what had been said earlier because she didn’t quite catch a thing.

“I’m referring to the mission. Are you all set for tonight?” Lady Delilah inquired again, a sinister smirk on her face, and Madeline’s dark smile mirrored hers.

“Yes, yes, I am fully prepared.” She replied reassuringly, nodding once.
