Layla’s POV

After eating for nearly an hour and getting to settle down better, Maddy got dressed up to pick this file at some downtown cafe. A cab drives us to a fancy busy street where Maddy takes us to a cafe. She picks up this file almost immediately and we both walked out before she walked us across to a fancy diner just opposite.

The place was nice and offered a lot of delicacies but I let Maddy order for me because food was the least of my problems now.

I cannot believe how much of this life I have missed.

I try to savor every moment but each time I catch myself doing that— staring longer at the people eating and not noticing us, or the kids playing outside the diner or dancing off their guardian's hands — but after a while I try to stop and just enjoy everything rather than trying to savor everything, reminding myself that I'm free now and I will do everything that I missed doing while I try as busy being Logan's captive.
