Chapter 170

Layla’s POV

I stood behind the counter working my shift, checking my phone every now and then to see if Maddy had boarded her plane. It was still early and she had many hours to spend airborne before getting here.

Tucking my phone back into my jeans pants, I looked forward to the customers eating. The place wasn’t as busy as most of the times and today, I was taking the counter. I always preferred running around serving customers.

“Layla, honey you look exhausted. Didn’t you get any sleep last night?” Talia, a waitress in her fifties asked while patting down her puffy graying hair which was barely being contained by her pink headband.

Talia was the oldest among the other waitresses that worked here and perhaps I always had this grandmotherly feeling towards her. She was caring, always asking about everyone who worked here.

“I did Talia” I replied with a bright smile.
