Logan’s POV

“I appreciate that, Isabella,” I said, my tone firm but polite. “But I won’t be staying long. I’ve got other things to handle.”

She tilted her head, studying me closely. “Why won’t you stay?” she asked, her voice quieter now, as if she was hurt.

“What’s so important that you can’t even give me a little of your time? I came all the way back for you, Logan. I thought we could pick up where we left off.”

I could feel the weight of her words, but I didn’t know how to respond. I had promised myself that I would focus on business, that I wouldn’t let myself get distracted by old feelings.

But seeing Isabella again, after all these years, was harder than I thought.

“I’m sorry,” I said, trying to make my voice sound sincere. “But there are things I have to take care of. I’ll come back another time.”
