Isabella’s POV
I knew exactly what I was doing. Bringing up our past wasn’t just for nostalgia’s sake; it was a calculated move.
Logan wasn’t the type to forget promises, and I needed him to remember what we had. To feel pity for me. To realize that no one else could love him the way I did.
“Logan,” I said again, this time softer, almost a whisper. “I really miss you, you know.”
That got his attention. His eyes looked up to meet mine for the briefest moment before he looked away again.
He picked up his fork and started eating again, but slower this time, as if the food suddenly tastes different.
I smiled to myself. He was breaking.
But then I saw something in his expression that gave me pause. A look of doubt. Confusion. He was asking himself something…I could feel it.
