Layla’s POV
I traced my fingers along the edges of the mirror, as if hoping it would show me something more…something real.
“Who are you?” I whispered to the reflection. “Who were you?”
The tears I had been holding back finally spilled over, streaking down my cheeks. I wiped them away quickly, frustrated with myself. Crying wouldn’t solve anything.
It wouldn’t bring back my memories or answer the questions that plagued me. But the pain was too much to keep bottled up.
I sank onto the edge of the bed, burying my face in my hands. My mind wandered to the people I might never remember. Were they thinking about me? Were they searching for me? Or had they given up, assuming I was gone for good?
And then there was Jason. He had been my rock through all of this, always there with a kind word or a comforting gesture. But I couldn’t help wondering what he wasn’t telling me.
