Isabella’s POV
I forced a bright smile, my heart warming at the sight of him. “Hey, sweetheart. How was school?”
“It was... okay,” he muttered, his gaze shifting to the floor as he dropped his bag near the couch.
I noticed it immediately…the sadness in his eyes, the way his shoulders were slumped. Something was bothering him.
I felt a pang of concern. Damien was usually so cheerful, so full of life. It wasn’t like him to look downcast.
I reached out, gently placing a hand on his shoulder. “Damien, what’s wrong? Did something happen at school? Did someone bully you?”
His eyes widened, and he quickly shook his head. “No, no one bullied me, Mom. It’s just... I don’t know. I feel... bad.”
My heart sank. I hated seeing him like this. I hated knowing that something was hurting him, and I couldn’t fix it.
