How did we get here? How did she become this… monster? Or maybe she was always this way, and I was just too blind to see it. Too wrapped up in my own lies and deceit to notice hers.

I shook my head, pushing those thoughts away. It didn’t matter how we got here. It didn’t matter who she used to be or who I thought she was. What mattered was the truth.

And I was going to get it, no matter what it took.

I slipped my phone into my pocket and headed for the door. 

“Get the car ready,” I barked at one of my men standing outside my office. “We’re leaving now.”

He nodded quickly, his posture straightening as he hurried down the hall. I watched him go, my mind still racing, piecing together the final parts of my plan.
