Chapter 802

Logan's POV

The days blurred together, each one as heavy as the last. Damien was getting better, slowly but surely, and with every little sign of improvement, I felt my chest loosen.

But it wasn’t enough to fully relax. I was still stuck in that cold, sterile hospital room, pretending everything was fine while my mind wandered somewhere else…somewhere warmer. Somewhere with her.

Layla.

I tried to push her out of my head, tried to stay focused on Damien and his recovery, but it was impossible. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw her face. Every time my phone buzzed, my heart skipped a beat, hoping it was her.

I missed her. More than I had any right to.

I couldn’t call her while sitting beside Damien’s bed. Isabella would walk in from time to time, pretending to check on him, but I knew she was watching me.

She was always watching, always suspicious. I couldn’t blame her. I hadn’t exactly been the best husband.
