Maddie's POV

Layla’s face hardened, her shoulders squaring as she lifted her chin. 

“Yes, I do. Logan isn’t like other guys. He’s different. He cares about me.”

I shook my head, letting out a bitter laugh. “You’re hopeless, you know that?”

Her eyes widened, her cheeks flushing with anger. “Excuse me?”

I looked away, my heart pounding in my chest. I couldn’t stand to see that look on her face, that blind faith, that stubborn loyalty. It was sickening. 

“You trust him with all your heart,” I muttered under my breath. 

“And that’s exactly why you’re going to get hurt.”

Layla opened her mouth to argue, but no words came out. She just stared at me, her face softening with confusion, with hurt. I almost felt guilty. 

Almost. But this was for her own good. She needed to see the truth, even if it broke her.

She looked away, her shoulders sagging as she sank deeper into the couch. 

“Yo
