Chapter 126

Maxine’s POV

He shook his head. "I'm good. You can go home." He replied.

I nodded slowly. "Okay then. Bye." I said, about to turn to leave.

"Maxine," he called me. I turned. "Come here."

I obeyed. I walked towards his desk. He pushed his chair away from it and patted his thighs. My eyes widened slightly. He wanted me to sit on his legs!

I swallowed and did as he wanted. He wound his hand around my waist and pulled me onto him, resting his head against my arm.

"Just stay…" he said softly.

We stayed in that position for what felt like forever and I felt like he had probably fallen asleep. "Liam?" I called unsure.

"Gerald did it," he said, without moving.

I furrowed my brows. "Did what?"

"The attack at the safe house. He sent those people." He reiterated for me.

I let out a silent gasp. "Wow, I can't believe he did that..." I said, but then I remembered what had caused the problem in the first place. "..
