Maxine’s POV
I didn't know what he meant. But, it caused my heart to drop at the implication.
He stepped away from me as quickly, storming out of the room. I stumbled forward, catching myself on the edge of the bed.
My breath came in short gasps. I felt the tears pricking at the corners of my eyes, threatening to spill down my face. I blinked them away. There was no time for tears.
I had to find a way out of this, and I had to do it soon. I didn't know his next plan for me. Ronan might have thought he’d won. But he was wrong.
