Maxine’s POV

I wasn't prepared for the knock on my door. I was getting dressed for the day when I heard the footsteps thundering towards my door. The guards had barely given me time to slip a sweater over my thin shirt before they rushed me out immediately.

Their faces were serious and their hands gripping my arms a little too roughly and tightly. I tried asking them what exactly was going on and where they were taking me but all they said was that I was needed urgently. They said that Ronan needed me.

My heart raced in my chest. The last time Ronan needed me, he was hurt. Was he hurt again? I followed them feeling worry sink into my stomach. Something terrible had happened. It was still happening.
