Maxine's POV
It was a small gesture, but it meant the world to me. For so long, I had been treated as nothing more than a tool, a means to an end. But now, Liam was acknowledging my efforts, showing me a level of respect that I hadn't experienced before.
That evening, as I sat in my room, I couldn't help but smile. The change in Liam was subtle but significant. He treated me with kindness, with consideration. It made me hopeful for the future, hopeful that things could continue to improve. My hope returned, maybe someday, I could show my father that he lost, and I won.
