Chapter 25
"Five months have passed, and my baby is staying strong for me."
"Hang in there, my love; only 4 months remain," she says, holding on to her stomach, which is now visible.
She uses her phone to capture the memories so that she can show them to her child when he is old enough to understand.
She looks at the picture she has taken with a smile on her face. She is satisfied with the angle, though it has taken time to find the right place to capture it perfectly without endangering her baby.
She smiles as she sends a picture to her mother. She has been supportive, just like any mother, but she knows her daughter very well.
Thelma, on the other hand, grins as she examines a photograph of her pregnant daughter and responds with a heart emoji.
As she is busy exchanging messages with her mother, Carter enters the room and silently stands by the door, watching the woman smile as she looks at her phone and wondering what has caused her to smile so much.
