“With all this, you didn’t buy your own portion beforehand, did you? Still not afraid I might not let you in?”
If she had known her room would be this messy, perhaps Hazel wouldn’t have let Damon in.
“Well, I’m just here to win you over and ask for your forgiveness. Nothing wasted,” Damon replied, placing some food into Hazel’s plate-the same foods she loved before their divorce.
As he remembered, he couldn’t help but feel guilty. Hazel had often reminded him to bring her food, but he always forgot. Sometimes, he’d remember halfway, but didn’t want to bother, so he’d just tell her at home that he forgot and let the housekeeper make something instead. Just thinking about the look she gave him back then made him feel ashamed.
“By the way, what happened when you were taken to that person’s place the other night? What did you two talk about? I know you’re trying to avoid telling me, but I’ve done some digging, and I think some things could be useful for you.”
