Kaito pivoted on his heels to take a gander at who was behind him. She wore a red cape that covered her eyes, while black curly strands hung out from the oversized cape.

She gripped the sides of the cape and his heart jumped to his throat as she unhurriedly removed her cape.

Kaito’s ears picked up the sound of Imani heaving a sigh of relief. He too released the breath he had been holding as he recognized her icy blue orbs.

“You!” Imani yelled from behind, followed by the sounds of her feet thumping hard on the ground, and soon, he could see her small frame walking past him and toward the girl. “What are you doing here?”

“I mean no harm.” She raised her hands in surrender, taking baby steps backward. “I promise.”

“Then what do you want?” Imani snarled. “To poison again?”

Kaito smiled to himself, finding this new Imani amusing, she did care about him.
