There was a scuffle outside the door, and Imani’s blood ran cold when a massive man in khaki pants entered, dragging a bound and gagged girl behind him. Hinata—She stared at Imani, fear stamped on every inch of her delicate face.
I took every ounce of her will power not to display a visible reaction.
A small cut marred Hinata’s face. Tears stained her cheeks, and she stared at Imani with wide eyes, her distress evident, obviously shocked to be here and to see her too. Bruises marked her arms from where she was held, chafed skin from where the roped pug into her wrists.
Imani didn’t like seeing the people she knew hurt for her sake and it made wild, all-consuming anger erupted in her stomach until it filled every inch of her being.
