Chapter 24

ISABELLA

Maybe he got tired of me in this mansion and will take me somewhere else with those men, and that makes me even more scared.

Someone knocks on the door, and I hear the doorknob moving. My body feels weak, and my head still aches because I haven't eaten anything today, but I run to the door and try to be quiet when I see the door being unlocked by someone.

Every security guard here has a gun, and I know I can't make any stupid moves, or I'll be the next person killed, but something tells me that this man who is entering the room came to get me inside.

The door opens, and the room is dark, but I can see the large shadow of one of the men in a suit entering the room; he looks too elegant to wear a gun on his waist, and I use that detail to my advantage.

The man looks into the dark room and stares at the bed as if he is looking for me, but I see that he hasn't realized that I am behind the door.
