Chapter 37

ISABELLA

The morning came quickly, and I almost didn't sleep the night before because I was thinking about my father all day.

After showering and putting on some more clothes, I leave the room before knocking on Lorenzo's office door and hearing his voice a few seconds later.

I open the door and try to disguise my excitement as I sit down in the available chair in front of his desk. He hands me a cell phone, and I blink my eyes while looking at the phone.

"He doesn't have a cell phone, so I'm going to call our neighbor, maybe that way he'll be able to pick me up.", I say before typing in the number and putting the phone to my ear.

I can feel my heartbeat getting stronger and stronger in my chest, and I sigh when I hear my neighbor's voice.

She tells me she's going to my house to call my father, and I look ahead to see Lorenzo focused on his computer.

"How is he? Is he all right?", I ask the woman, and I stop smiling when I hear her sigh.
