Chapter 7. Settling Down
Germaine sprang from her seat, her mouth rounding into an o. She rushed to where Cordelia stood looking shaken with broken tea cups on the floor and a large bleeding gash on her leg.
She assessed the situation and rushed to get the first aid kit. By the time she returned, the floor was clean and there was no sign of the broken tea cups. Cordelia was still standing in the same position with her mouth agape and a shocked look on her face, but there was no sign of blood on her leg, nor was there a cut. Germaine’s brow furrowed and then it eased when she saw the tea cups on the dining table, all whole.
“You used your magic,” she said matter-of-factly as a look of awe crept into her eyes. “Who are you, people, and what do you want with me, with us?” She swept her hand in an arc to encompass Cordelia who looked like she was coming down from the surprised state she was in.
