Summer’s POV
Tears streaked my cheeks as I wrestled into my jeans, the button threatening mutiny. One hand clutched a pile of summer dresses while the other dabbed at the drippy mess my face had become. Packing my life away in laundry baskets felt surreal. I was leaving. Again. My shoulders ached under the weight of regret—Jared deserved better than a tear-stained goodbye note.
I trudged upstairs, my feet muffled on the carpet like a ghost in soft slippers, tossing folded shirts into a duffel bag. I’d swing back for my laptop once I scored a new hideout—Silver Hollow must have some half-decent apartments within shrieking distance of Jared’s place.
