Exiting my room in my dark blue satin spaghetti strap nightwear, I found it surprising that Mrs. Martin hadn’t roused me for breakfast with Enzo and Riza.
I yearned to see the little girl again to apologize and atone for the previous night’s events at the dining table. I should have been more considerate of her feelings and refrained from arguing with Enzo.
Upon reaching the dining room, I noticed only one plate on the table and breakfast ready, yet Enzo and Riza were nowhere to be found.
“They left early because Riza was excited to go to school today…” Mrs. Martin announced, emerging from the kitchen with a smile that took me by surprise.
I glanced at the wall clock, pondering if I had overslept. Then it dawned on me that it had been ages since I last enjoyed the luxury of ample sleep, perhaps indulging a bit too much this time.
