Lilly’s POV
“What is it to you?” Alpha Alex’s voice was cold, a deep frown etching lines into his forehead.
Sade stormed closer, stopping only a few feet away, her eyes burning with indignation. “Lex would love to know about this!” she sneered, her gaze darting to where Alex’s hand still rested reassuringly on my shoulder.
For a moment, I wondered what she was really referring to—until her jealous glare made it clear. She wanted to stir trouble, to make Lex question every innocent gesture.
“Then tell him,” I said, lifting my chin. “I don’t care.”
My defiance only seemed to fuel her anger, but she was left speechless for once, jaw clenched in frustration.
“Let’s go,” Alex murmured, steering me gently away from Sade and into the private dining chamber. “Everyone’s waiting.”
I nodded, relief flooding through me as we left Sade fuming in the hallway.
